For those of you making your weekend plans, here is quick rundown of this weekend's MTB racing schedule for NorCal:

  1. Northstar Super D Series (09/17/10): Northstar at Tahoe's gravity series continue with Friday night's Super D and Sunday's downhill.
  2. Kirkwood 9 to 5 #2 (09/18/10): Another big race at Kirkwood, this time it is Team Bigfoot's 8 hour endurance race.

The Bidwell Bump™ Returns Sept 18th

The annual Bidwell Bump (which apparently has been trademarked this year :) is returning to the Chico, CA area for a full day of XC and SuperD racing:

The Bidwell Bump™ will be held on Saturday, September 18th in Upper Bidwell Park located in Chico, CA.  The event offers a four class Cross Country ("XC") race and a Super Downhill (Super D) event for Pro and Expert riders.
The race entry fee is $20 per race ($30 if you wish to enter both the XC and Super D events).  Because of the race location, we do not have the telecommunication services to support credit/debit card transactions.
Given the The Bidwell Bump™ is not currently a USA Cycling Race, no license is needed to enter and compete in the event.
Cross Country (XC) Race start is at 8:00am in Parking Lot B.  Participants are asked to use available parking lots in and around the race start area and over in 5 Mile recreation area. The XC event is broken out into four classes; Expert, Pro, Sport, and Beginner.  There will be a group start for each class.
The Super D (SD) Race is for Expert and Professional riders only.  The race start is located at "Green Gate" off of Hwy 32.  The race begins at 2:00PM with riders starting in 1 minute intervals.

Bidwell Bump Returns for 2009

bidwell_superd.jpegOops, I got this last week and forgot to post it.
Chico State is finally hosting a race! There will be 4 events:XC, SD, ST, and or course DH! They will be held at two venues for optimum riding! The XC race will be in Bidwell Park and so will the Super D! And the DH and Short track (Collegiate Only) will be held in Oroville (a neighboring town) 30 minutes south of Chico.
Via Chico State Cycling Home.

The races will be held on September 26 & 27th but no word on costliness yet. I've split these into two events on the calendar: DH/ST and SD/XC since they are so far apart.

2008 Bidwell Bump

The Cal State Chico Cycling Club has announced the 2008 Bidwell Bump will be held on September 14, 2008. The races will be held in Upper Bidwell Park just east of Chico, CA.

The Bump will consist of an XC Ride at 10am, followed with a Super-D type (1 minute gaps, but it is LONG) downhill starting at 2pm, with a BBQ at Hooker Oak.

Some notes about the races:
  • There will be no Beginner class in the Super-D, because Guardians is not a beginner friendly trail; It is full of sharp rocks and poisonous snakes and places to fall off and break a clavicle and have to get airlifted out and very scary things! But the Expert and Sport classes should be fine, with waivers!
  • This is a long, hot, tough, rocky race so bring lots of water (at least 100oz for Sport/Expert XC riders), some spare tubes and plenty of food.
A donation to the CSUC Cycling Club will be requested for racing:
  • XC or Super-D: $20
  • XC and Super-D: $30
  • BBQ: $5! extra
This is a fundraiser race to help send Chico State riders to the Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals in late October.
