RACE REPORT: PCRS Spring #1

The results are in for the first Prairie City Race Series (PCRS) Spring XC event. They are just preliminary results right now -- final results with names will be coming later. It looks like there was a giangantic turnout -- they are quoting 435 racers this week. The course looked to be about 2.5 miles with 250' elevation per lap.
A mountain of photos have also been posted. It looks like they have moved to red for this year's T-shirts :>

Sand Hill Father's Day Race

A small notice on the Sand Hill Racing website announced their annual Father's Day race:

June 16, 2007: Our Annual Father's Day Eve Dual Slalom evening race. Sign ups from 3 - 5 pm. Qualifying starts at 5:30 pm. Same categories as above Spring Series.

CHDH Speed Trap

From a posting over on the MTBR:

Just added to the Corral Hollow DH race series. ..... The CHDH Speed Trap ..... We will be clocking G-Out speed for every rider and awarding the rider with the fastest speed down the infamous G-Out with $300 for each race!!!

This is a cool idea. And probably a dangerous one.

Thule Awarding Expert Winners At Sea Otter

From a press release over at the Sea Otter Classic website:

Winners of the Sea Otter Classic expert men’s 25-29 and expert women’s 19-39 cross country events will be heading home with more than a Sea Otter Classic race medal this year, as Thule car racks will be awarding each of them with a one-year sponsorship from the company. The sponsorship package includes a new Thule car rack system, racing kit, and the company will cover the athlete’s competition entry fees in 2007.

In addition to the sponsorship, each racer will be profiled on ThuleRoadTrip.com, and their race results will be followed through out the year on the site. Thule will award the winners of the year long sponsorship contracts at the awards ceremony for their respective event.

ROADTRIP: CrankWorx Colorado

So this is a bit of a roadtrip and lack British Columbia's Canadian-ness, but should be a really good time . . .

24 Solo

The Coolest 24 Update

Just a little update from The Coolest 24 website on this year's course:

"I need to set something strait about the new bike course. There are rumors going around that its to hard, and its not. Do to some trail conditions of the Olmstead loop the race course has had a 2 1/2 mile single track and fire road climb added to it. The state park has graded the Olmstead loop and made it much faster than it has been in 20 years. This means fastest lap times would be in the 38-41 which is to fast for a 24 hr event. This will help spread the field out and make it make it safer and more enjoyable for everyone. If you go and race at OP 24hr race in AZ they have a 15 mile lap that is being finished no faster than 55 mins with little climbing. So to let all off you know the new Olmstead loop will have around 1500ft of climbing in 11 1/2 miles to 12 miles. You are not going all the way to the bottom of the Dam and back out, not even half way.

So don't stress! It's going to be another great, fast course this year! "

PCRS Spring Starts Tomorrow

Just a reminder that weeknight racing begin near Sacramento, CA tomorrow night with the first Spring Prairie City Race Series event. Get there early if you haven't pre-registered. Registration opens at 4:30 PM and racing begins at 6:15 PM sharp. Each race costs $25.

And if you are really fast, check in on this thread to see if there should be a "Expert Plus" division this year.

RACE REPORT: CCCX XC #5

The fifth race in the CCCX cross country racing series results have been posted. Congratulations to Corey Ward (Team Chico) from Los Gatos, CA who bested Rob Anderson (Team AMD/Discovery Channel) for the Pro/Semi-Pro win.

RACE REPORT: CCCX DH #3

The third race of the CCCX downhill series was contested at Toro Park near Monterey on Sunday and Mark Weir (WTB) of Navato rode away with the Pro/Semi-Pro title. Mark came in approximately 3 seconds ahead of second place finisher Shawn Wilson (Oakley/Gamut) from Capitola. RACE REPORT: 2007 Pre Otter

Team Bigfoot hosted the annual Pre Otter this weekend and results have been posted over at MTBR. Although it looks like there were some of the normal early season course problems, it looks like it was some good racing:

"The Pro race was the best show of the day, with Carl Hesslein and John "Fuzzy" Mylne going off the front early and staying neck and neck for the rest of the race. Going into the final climb Hesslein used his gearier versus Fuzzy's single-speeder to pulled alongside Fuzzy. Hesslein clicked through the gears to power by a spun-out Fuzzy on the next straight, pulling a bike-length by the final corner where the Fuzzster did a banzai inside move that put him even with Hesslein for the sprint to the finish. It was too close to call and we had to go to the photo...it was Carl Hesslein by about six inches!"

Haven't seen any pictures, but I will update this post when they surface.

RACE REPORT: Sand Hill #3

Race results have been posted for Saturday's mountain cross races at Sand Hill racing (Sand Hill Spring #3). Congratulations to Michael Hughes (Staats Bikes) of Redwood City, CA who won the Pro/Semi-Pro competition.

RACE RESULTS: NORBA #1

The 2007 NORBA series has began in Fountain Hills, Arizona this weekend with Georgia Gould and Geoff Kabush winning the first cross country races. Santa Cruz resident Barry Wicks (Kona) was the highest placing NorCal Mens contestant in 8th place. Earlier during the event, Carl Decker outraced Travis Brown and NorCal local Aren Timmel to take the Men's Super D event. Truckee, CA local Heather Svahn placed fourth in the Women's Super D.
