CCCX Moved to THIS SATURDAY (6/2/13)

Word come north from Monterey about the CCCX XC change:

Keith DeFiebre just informed us at Nor-Cal MTB Racing that the next CCCX XC Race will now be held this Sunday June 2, in Ft. Ord- not June 22.  The race previously scheduled for June 22 had to be moved due to an event conflict in the area.

The June 2 CCCX XC Race will feature runs of a 4.5 mile lap consisting of 85% Single Track, sharp climbs, and a plethora of fun riding trails.  Ft ord is one of the best places for cycling in California... a virtual cycling paradise, hope to see you there!

Also for this CCCX XC race, each awards ceremony will have a prize raffle to all race entrants.  Oakley Eye Wear from Concept Cyclery, and goods from Trailhead Cyclery and Family Cycling Center will be handed out during each raffle.  Info can be found here www.cccxcycling.com

CCCX Series Adds Race

1082C7DA-1989-4391-98D4-5DD6BBE8445D.jpg

It looks like they will be an additional race for the CCCX XC series this season, bumping the finals from this weekend to early September:

Due to multiple issues, the final race of the series is now scheduled for Sunday, September 2nd. This race will also serve as the USA Cycling Northern California Cross Country Championship race for 2012. This event will have a level "D" status on the USA Cycling ranking system. All divisions will be racing for the USA Cycling Nor-Cal State Championship that day, plus the double points CCCX Series final.

Plus the CCCX Series awards will be handed out on September 2nd, making for a huge day of XC racing
to close out the CCCX 2012 Cross Country season.

The USA Cycling State Championship Race/CCCX Series Final will either take place at FT. Ord or Toro Park.

While the finals have been pushed back, this weekend's race is STILL ON:

This Saturday's July 28, Race #8 course is going to be an excellent route featuring a plethora of climbs, multiple super fast downhill's, as much single-track as I can sneak in. Also enough elevation gained per lap to fully challenge even the strongest riders in the group. This particular route is one of the best, as it mixes in most of the regular steep climbs, but also includes the most fun descents as well!

Happy racing.

CCCX SuperD/DH Postponed !

Bad news due to March showers this week:

With rain scheduled over the weekend, the Toro Park staff has asked me to postpone this Sunday's CCCX X-Fusion "Super D" race.
Please note that this Sunday's race is being postponed due to rain in the weekend forecast.  Sorry about this!  Toro Park requested me to postpone the race, and it will be rescheduled.

This also pushes back the series finale. More details when they emerge.

    CCCX Super D Preview

Just to correct yesterday's weekend preview: The CCCX Super D race will be Saturday, March 3rd not Sunday, March 4th. Here's the course preview for the race:

This Saturday, March 3, is race #6 of the X-Fusion "Super D" Series at Toro Park. Racers will be treated to a special course, and some super sweet racing on some railing single track that is just ready to be treated right! The course for race #6 is going to use the legendary Gilson Trail, which has hosted the NorCal Single Track Downhill Championships in past years!  This trail is a fast flowing race route that is 90% Single-Track.The grades vary between steep & moderate in certain sections of the route.   Speeds can be extremely fast in some portions of the trail, as well as slow and technical in others.  Strength & fitness will come into play, and the dirt content should be awesome after some light showers during the week.

Tomorrow is the kickoff for the 2012 CCCX cross country series at Fort Ord, near Monterey:

Thank you to all the racers and supporters of CCCX MTB Cross Country racing over the years!  The race series has been a success due to all the great riders and friends who make the competitions so fun.
The 2012 racing action for MTB XC rolls into gear this Saturday, February 4th in Ft. Ord.  Be prepared for good times and a fast track to kick off the first race of the season.  The terrain is extremely dry for this time of year, and the race route will be full speed ahead for the racers.  There will be a few testing climbs to establish difficulty to the track, but for the most part the loop is big gear racing at it's best.

Please note that the 2012 CCCX Series with be USA Cycling sanctioned. The Sea Otter Classic is another local event that will be USA Cycling sanctioned for 2012.  All racers can simply pay a $5 fee at registration to purchase a one-day licence from USA Cycling, or go online at www.usacycling.org to purchase your annual licence.  Sanctioning with USA Cycling supports racing of all levels all over America & beyond. Having a USA Cycling sanctioned race will allow riders upgrade opportunities and qualifying benefits for USA Cycling MTB National Championships.

Racing starts at 9:00 a.m. sharp with the Category 3 divisions, who will race 3 laps of the CCCX XC loop. Then at 11:00 a.m. Category 1 & 2 divisions will take to course.  Cat. 2 riders will do 4 laps and the Cat. 1 riders will be racing 5 laps.

Please arrive early to check in and fill out your standard USA Cycling release form, and get your race number.  Allow enough time to register and warm up so you are ready to hit the trails legs firing fast.  The first race of the series is always a busy time at registration, so please arrive extra early for this race #1.

It will be crowded due to the awesome weather, so arrive early.
