2013 Sea Otter Classic Dates

First dates for the 2013 season ...

The Sea Otter Classic announced its dates for its 23rd edition on April 18-21, 2013. The multi-discipline cycling event and expo will return to the Laguna Seca Recreation Area surrounded by the newly created Fort Ord National Monument.

2011 Sea Otter Iphone App and Android Apps

For those of you going to Monterey next week:

The Sea Otter Classic mobile apps on iPhone and Android will be your mobile digital guide at Laguna Seca for background and logistical information, event information, festival details, expo info, daily updates, video, daily news and more. Push notifications (optional) will keep you up on breaking news at Sea Otter.  Download the SOC 2011 app on iTunes or in the Android Market starting April 13.

2011 Sea Otter Classic Registration Open

Registration for next year's 2011 Sea Otter Classic is now open. As usual, the Sea Otter will feature cross country, downhill, super d (canceled due to BLM maintenance), dual slalom and (pro only) short track events on April 14-17, 2011 in Monterey, CA.

Click over to Sea Otter MTB registration to get signed up. Registration closes on April 10th, 2011, but if you register before midnight Pacific on Dec 31, 2010 you can get $10 off with the code "EarlyBird".

Camping reservations are also open.

2010 Sea Otter Results

All of the results (at least it looks like all the results) have been posted to the Sea Otter Website at http://www.seaotterclassic.com/raceresults/index.cfm/2010.htm.

Sea Otter Adds Gran Fondo and Collegiate Cats

Some new events from this year's Sea Otter Classic:

The Sea Otter Classic has added two new elements for 2010: a Gran Fondo and collegiate cycling categories ... Gran Fondo, or "Big Ride" as it's known in Italy, falls somewhere in between a century tour and a race. Open to all categories of riders, the Gran Fondo challenges you not to compete with your fellow cyclists, but to push yourself against the clock and the elements, all while taking in scenic views and enjoying great food ... The Gran Fondo will offer three fully supported ride distances: a 28-mile coastal route, a 45-mile coastal route and, for the more experienced riders, a 100-mile inland route. The short and middle distances wind along the coastal communities of Marina, Seaside, Monterey and Pacific Grove.

To ensure that there is no shortage of team rivalry at Sea Otter, open collegiate categories have been added to the 19-mile mountain bike Cross Country race scheduled for Sunday, April 18, 2010. Circuit racing will also play host to the young athletes, as a men's open collegiate category will be held on the famed Laguna Seca Raceway on Saturday, April 17, 2010."

Racing begins in earnest today down in Monterey:

Super D finals at noon, dual slalom qualifying and finals all day and beginner (cat 3) and Jr XC race at 1pm.

Sea Otter Opens Today

Today is the first day of the 2009 Sea Otter Classic down in Monterey, CA. On tap for this afternoon:

The is basically a practice day for the gravity events, except for Pro Slalom qualifying at 2pm.
