Lake Sonoma Finale Moved

The final date on the Lake Sonoma Series schedule has been moved to avoid conflicting with the Downieville Classic:

We've swapped the Lake Sonoma Series Finale from July 10 to July 24. Now Downieville doesn't have to cancel their race.

2010 Giant NorCal MTB Championship Series

In addition to their Solo Cup, Team Bigfoot is also organizing the Giant NorCal MTB Championship series in XC, Super D and DH. Here are the details:

WIN A GIANT XTC2 !
We'll be giving away TWO bikes, $870 value each.
Here's how it works, at each and every race you do in the series you'll earn chances to win a bike based on your finish: A win gets you five tickets, 2nd=4 tickets, 3rd=3, 4th=2, 5th=1. You don't have to keep track of tickets, we'll take are of that. We'll draw the winning ticket the Lagrange Fall Classic, one cross-country racer and one downhill racer will each take home a brand new Giant XTC2 mountain bike. Must be present to win the bike.

Series champions will be crowned in every category at the finals in Weaverville. Champions will be awarded with a 1st place medal, special Nor-Cal Series socks from Sock Guy, and will be eligible to purchase a championship jersey.

NorCal MTB Racing This Weekend: April 24 - 25

For those of you making your weekend plans, here is quick rundown of this weekend's MTB racing schedule for NorCal (with a SoCal race bonus):

1. Shasta Lemurian (04/24/10)
2. Iron Angels (04/24/10)
3. California Golden State Series #2 (04/24/10)

Obviously, the big race this weekend is the Lemurian, the start of the way NorCal racing season. This year's edition looks to be excellent with temperatures heading into the high 70s.

2010 Team Bigfoot Solo Cup Series

Team Bigfoot's Solo Cup series is back for 2010 with two different divisions this year.

SILVER CUP SERIES
The format is simple, we add up your miles from your races and whoever has the most in your category at the finals at Whiskeytown Lake in October is awarded with a championship trophy. Must be present to receive your trophy.

• 6 Hours of Weaverville, May 22
• Kirkwood Nine to Five #1, August 28
• Kirkwood Nine to Five #2, Sept. 18
• Whiskeytown Nine to Five, Oct. 2

GOLD CUP SERIES
This one if for the hard-core riders. You need to do at least one 24 Hour to be eligible for the championship. The format is simple, we add up your miles from your races and whoever has the most in your category at the finals at the 24 Hours of Gold is awarded with a championship trophy. Must be present to receive your trophy. Any of the races above, plus any of the races below:

• 24 Hours of Kirkwood, August 28-29
• 24 Hours of Whiskeytown, October 2-3
• 24 Hours of Gold, November 13-14

Prairie City #4 CANCELLED !

Bad news:

Prairie City Race #4 is CANCELLED TODAY!
(Wed April 21) - yup, first time in history???

Sorry folks, we could not even begin to set up a course today, IT WAS THAT BAD.

We will try to schedule an additional race at the end of the season! Everything that was supposed to start today, will start next week (like the Juniors races).

Living pretty near to Prairie City, I can vouch that it has rained cats and dogs for the past few days.

2010 Sea Otter Results

2010 Sea Otter - Day 2

For all of you playing hooky at work and driving down to Monterey for the Sea Otter, here are some events and the schedule for today:

2010 Napa Valley Dirt Classic Results

This weekend's Napa Valley Dirt Classic is in the books and it truly lived up to the "rain or shine" warning.

The Men's Pro race was extremely tight with Aren Timmel edging Mark Weir and Jim Hewett by just seconds. Amber Broch was the top female finisher.

Reno XC Races Scheduled

The Reno Wheelmen have announced their annual Twilight XC series as well as the dates for the Nevada Cup:

The dates are being entered onto the calendar and should be all up by the end of this week. More details at the Reno Wheelmen website.

Stone's Throw Short Track Moves to Thursdays

Some word out of the East Bay:

The Stone's Throw Short Track events held at the Bailey Bike Park have now moved to Thursday evenings. Gates open @ 5:30, registration opens at 6:00, racing begins at 6:30. 30 minutes + 1 lap. For more info, check out http://stoneracing.wordpress.com.

This actually started last week, so I think there should be another race this Thursday (April 8th). I don't have them on the calendar yet, but should sometime today or tomorrow.

Summit Shorty Returns for 2010

Summit Marin's summer series is back:

The Summit Shorty series returns to Marin for Spring 2010! Come test your fitness in the A,B,C or Women's category on our multi-lap course.Races last for 20+ minutes on fireroads and singletrack. Only $10 to enter and prizes to the top 3 as well as series winners. Races start at 5:30pm, end by 7:00pm. Perfect mid-week training for longer XC races, or just a fun way to push yourself on a Wednesday evening. 5 races in the Spring series: 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19. No license required. 2010 CCCX XC #4 Results

Former XC World Champion Ned Overend (Specialized) and USA National Super D Champion Aaron Bradford (Specialized/On Site Ultrasound) put on quite the battle at this weekend's CCCX XC Series #4 in Monterey. Overend and Bradford broke away from the pack on lap one and things were not settled between the two riders until the very end of the race when Bradford got a gap and held off the Durango resident to the line. Overend was testing the new Specialized 29er, and looks to be on form heading into the Sea Otter Classic in 2 weeks time. While Bradford is sure to be one of the favorites for the Sea Otter Classic Super D event.

Holly Liske took the Women's Pro/Expert event over Michelle Monroe (SB Racing/Buy-cell.com) by around 30 seconds.

NorCal MTB Racing This Weekend: April 3-4, 2010

Sorry again for the blackout on the site this week, real life and work have been getting in the way.

While I haven't posted much, it's not that there is a lack of news. Just this week, I've received news of two reschedules, three new race series (Summit Shorty, Nevada Cup and Reno Wheelmen Twilight) and some other interesting bits. Most of the news races and reschedules have been added to the calendar. If everything goes well, you should see a veritable torrent of posts this weekend (keeps fingers crossed).

For those of you who haven't checked the calendar lately, the SB Racing XC Series #4 has been postponed due to a scheduling problems and will now by May 22nd at Fort Ord.

For those of you making your weekend plans, here is quick rundown of this weekend's MTB racing schedule for Norcal:

1. CCCX XC (04/03/10): "The course for Race #4 of the CCCX XC Series will use similar trails as the previous 2 races, but in reverse direction. The climbs that peppered race route #3 and tested endurance and strength of all the Central Coast racers will be replaced with mostly fast sections of fun riding single track. Of course there will be a large amount of uphill hits riders will face each lap, but for the most part this race #4 course route will be full throttle for the CCCX riders. Most of the climbs are between 5% and 7% grade, with a majority of the race route sending the riders ripping through turns and dicing down single track trails. Race Safe & Have Fun!"
2. Boggs V (04/03/10): While this has been sold out for a while, it looks like the weather Saturday should be good.
3. Gold Country Gravity Cup #1 (04/03/10): "Due to the lack of entries for this race, we had 8 as of yesterday, we have cancelled the event but we are doing $10.00 all day shuttles and your $10.00 will include a BBQ! Don’t miss out on this great event. Just bring your bike and 10 bones). Don’t forget, a BBQ is included!!"
4. Folsom Lake Sprint Adventure Race (04/03/10)
