Somehow this slipped through the schedule, but this weekend (October 6-7, 2012) is the 24 Hours of Whiskeytown and the Whiskeytown 9 to 5. Held in Whiskeytown Lake, CA (west of Redding, CA), the races are Solo Cup Championships.
The trail system within the Whiskeytown Lake National Recreation Area is FANTASTIC! Most of the singletrack trails were dug by hand during the 1850's Gold Rush era. Few places in the world have this much flowing singletrack. Racers have loved our course for years---some have described as "the best parts of the Lemurain" ---and this year's course will be even better! Instead of taking the Shasta Mine Trail the course will stay on the Clear Creek Canal Trail, which is longer, twistier and more fun! We haven't used this trail before because of one nasty section affectionately known as "The Ditch of Death," but that section has been reworked and is now completely ridable. The course will be about 8.5 miles long with about 1450' of climbing.

It looks like they will be an additional race for the CCCX XC series this season, bumping the finals from this weekend to early September:
Due to multiple issues, the final race of the series is now scheduled for Sunday, September 2nd. This race will also serve as the USA Cycling Northern California Cross Country Championship race for 2012. This event will have a level "D" status on the USA Cycling ranking system. All divisions will be racing for the USA Cycling Nor-Cal State Championship that day, plus the double points CCCX Series final.
Plus the CCCX Series awards will be handed out on September 2nd, making for a huge day of XC racing
to close out the CCCX 2012 Cross Country season.
The USA Cycling State Championship Race/CCCX Series Final will either take place at FT. Ord or Toro Park.
While the finals have been pushed back, this weekend's race is STILL ON:
This Saturday's July 28, Race #8 course is going to be an excellent route featuring a plethora of climbs, multiple super fast downhill's, as much single-track as I can sneak in. Also enough elevation gained per lap to fully challenge even the strongest riders in the group. This particular route is one of the best, as it mixes in most of the regular steep climbs, but also includes the most fun descents as well!
Happy racing.

The Tamarancho Dirt Classic was on hiatus for 2011, but we are back for another amazing event September 30th, 2012.
Tamarancho Dirt Classic is the only Cross Country Mountain Bike race in Marin County! Mostly technical single-track with a few fire road climbs and lots and lots of vertical feet of climbing.
The race benefits the NorCal High School MTB league and the new Off-Road Advocacy Program of the MCBC. Others benefiting include Stafford Lake Bike Park and Access4Bikes.
You MUST have both an annual USAC license and a Friends of Tamarancho (FOT) pass to race. If you don’t, you MUST purchase a one-day license and/or one-day FOT pass.
Global Biorhythm Event's 2012 Boggs Mountain Bash has been cancelled.
