The Big Sandy Returns for 2012

The Big Sandy, an epic Central Cali point to point race, is back for 2012:

The race starts at the base of the San Joaquin River Gorge, five miles northwest of Auberry, CA and follows 15 miles of mostly singletrack along the contours of the river valley, finishing at Finegold Bay on Millerton Lake. Long course riders go 23 miles, starting with a climb to the top of the ridge followed by one of the best singletrack downhills in the area before joining the remainder of the course. Soar past wildflowers and the sparkling river to finish under shady trees for something to eat and drink.

CCCX Super D This Sunday !

Just got an email from head CCCX honcho and this weekend's CCCX X-Fusion Super D race at Toro Park is definitely ON (even with the rain):

Call for rain on Sunday is now off!  Dirt is going to be ready to rip!  X-Fusion Super D Is On For This Sunday!

The dirt should be in excellent condition after some showers Friday and Sat. morning.

Hidden at the end of the sad story of the demise of the Diablo Freeride Park back East was this little gem:

Global Biorhythm Announces 2012 Schedule

Global Biorhythm Events has announced their race schedule for 2012:

• 06/08/12 - 06/10/12: The Hammerstein 8 & 24hr (Laguna Seca, Monterey, CA)
• 07/14/12: The Tahoe Sierra 100 (Soda Springs, CA)
• 08/03/12 - 08-05/12: The Coolest 24 Race Against Cancer (Royal Gorge Ski Resort, CA)
• 08/25/12: Boggs Bash (Cobb Mtn, CA)
• 10/14/12: Sugar Pine 50 (Foresthill, CA)

The scheduled bring several new races (Hammerstein and Sugar Pine) and changes the dates/places for several familiar races (Coolest, Tahoe Sierra).

UPDATE (1/19): corrected the date for the Tahoe Sierra 100 to July 14th. Thanks Rich.

Boggs Open For Registration

If you are thinking about racing up at Boggs in May, better get clickin':

Boggs registration is open and the fur is flying, or at least slowing drifting through the air. We've got a nice group so far, but there's plenty of room left to spare in the first couple of hours. Come play with us--your mom said it was okay with her.
