NorCal MTB Racing This Weekend: May 15-16, 2010

For those of you making your weekend plans, here is quick rundown of this weekend's MTB racing schedule for NorCal (and some SoCal):

1. California Golden State Series #3 (Saturday): Okay, this certainly isn't in NorCal. But a lot of people are looking for state wide championships and this is one of those series.
2. MTB Benefit Races at Loma Rica Ranch (Saturday): Debuting 5.8 miles of new mountain bike trails at Loma Rica Ranch, Grass Valley, California.  700 ft/ climbing per lap.  Hilly course is on a 127 acres parcel with amazing flowy single tracks among stands of old pine and madrone stands.
3. CCCX XC (Sunday):  This Sunday- CCCX #5 will be a special event as results will count towards TEAM BIGFOOT'S 2010 Giant NorCal MTB Championship Series. CCCX #5 will use a counter clock-wise loop that will be about 5 miles in length.  Features on the trail will be a few sharp & steep climbs, fast fire roads, and lots of twisty- turning single track.  Speeds can be very speedy for this loop as trail conditions look rather optimal for this Sunday's competition.

Loma Rica Benefit Race Scheduled

The folks from YONC and Loma Rica Ranch are teaming to bring a benefit MTB race to Grass Valley before their summer series:

The Youth Bicyclists of Nevada County Foundation is excited to present 2010 Loma Rica Ranch Mountain Bike Race to the Northern California and Nevada. A ride or race benefit (just be on your bike!) to ensure that kids have safe roads and great trails. Proceeds from this event will go towards support for school bike club programs in Nevada County. This event offers both recreational and competitive cyclists the opportunity to participate in a fun and well organized event.

2009 Loma Rica MTB Crit Series

Hot off the presses, a new short track series for the Sierra Foothills:

The Twilight MTB Crit Series at Loma Rica Ranch

Race Dates (Saturdays):

• August 8th
• August 22
• September 5th
• September 19th

The first of its kind, it is all about bringing more competitive Mountain Bike Racing to the Nevada County community. There will be food, local brews, local vendors, LIVE music and the beautiful Loma Rica Ranch setting. Anyone can come and enjoy the race days!

The series will be a benefit for Youth Bicyclist of Nevada County (YBONC) and the Nevada Union High School Mountain Bike Team.

This special race series will be held at Loma Rica Ranch in Grass Valley (MAP).

The course is described as "MTB Dirt Crit with a 1 -1 1/4 mile course with a mixture of single track,gravel road, pavement with some surprises." The race costs $20 for adults and $10 for Juniors (18-).
