2008 Tour de Granite

Team Spatdog has announced the 2008 Tour De Granite for August 2nd, 2008 near Fresno, CA. And it looks like there are changes this year. The course is described as "9.5 mile circuit course, starting and ending at Markwood Meadows. Fast descents, steep single track, granite climbs, 1600ft Elevation gain per lap, creek crossing, steep granite hike." This sounds a bit tougher than last year.

Hmmm . . . somehow I forgot to post this back in August. Better late than never, here are the results for the 2007 Tour de Granite.

Tour de Granite Preview

NinjaBoot was nice enough to send in his pre-ride of this weekend's Tour de Granite course with GPS maps ! "The 1st lap has about a 3/4 of a mile climb that is only included the first lap. I think they are doing that to spread the riders out before the single track. Completely different course that last year. I Can't wait to race it."



While the GPS course map is interesting, the elevation map really shows the challenge of the course.

The folks over at Spatdog.com have posted the 2006 Tour de Granite race results. Congrats to Stephen Ray (Clovis, CA) who won the elite men's race. Derek posted a good race report on MTBR.

Okay, so I am really late on this, but here is a cross country race down in Shaver Lake, CA near Fresno. It is being organized by Team Spatdog and the course is described as "8 mile circuit course, starts and ends at Markwood Meadows. Fast descents, steep single track, granite climbs, 900ft Elevation gain per lap, creek crossing, steep granite hike." It looks like one or two laps depending on your category.
