Sea Otter Moves Dates For 2008

According to a press release from their PR people, the Sea Otter Classic will move the 2008 races back into May:
Organizers for the Sea Otter Classic, a Celebration of Sport, announced today the event dates for the 18th annual event would be May 1- 4, 2008. At a recent strategic planning meeting, the event's directors considered several factors in determining the move into early May. Key factors included the probability of better weather conditions and the likely schedules of national and international racing and event calendars for 2008.

"In response to requests and recommendations from our athletes, fans, and sponsors, we have decided to host the Sea Otter Classic on May 1-4, 2008," said Frank Yohannan, president and CEO of the Sea Otter Classic, Inc. "We look forward to seeing all our supporters at the 18th Annual Sea Otter Classic."
This should certainly scramble next year's schedule, but at least they decided it early.

UPDATE: They moved the dates back to the usual mid April dates.

The sand back in Fort Ord is getting pretty bad now in early May. I think that moving the event into May will hurt it /bc there is plenty of racing around the country by then. It is the fact that Seaotter is a season opener for many that is the attraction.

Who cares? They canceled 4X and that was the biggest spectator venue!
