Tomorrow is the kickoff for the 2012 CCCX cross country series at Fort Ord, near Monterey:
Thank you to all the racers and supporters of CCCX MTB Cross Country racing over the years! The race series has been a success due to all the great riders and friends who make the competitions so fun.
The 2012 racing action for MTB XC rolls into gear this Saturday, February 4th in Ft. Ord. Be prepared for good times and a fast track to kick off the first race of the season. The terrain is extremely dry for this time of year, and the race route will be full speed ahead for the racers. There will be a few testing climbs to establish difficulty to the track, but for the most part the loop is big gear racing at it's best.
Please note that the 2012 CCCX Series with be USA Cycling sanctioned. The Sea Otter Classic is another local event that will be USA Cycling sanctioned for 2012. All racers can simply pay a $5 fee at registration to purchase a one-day licence from USA Cycling, or go online at www.usacycling.org to purchase your annual licence. Sanctioning with USA Cycling supports racing of all levels all over America & beyond. Having a USA Cycling sanctioned race will allow riders upgrade opportunities and qualifying benefits for USA Cycling MTB National Championships.
Racing starts at 9:00 a.m. sharp with the Category 3 divisions, who will race 3 laps of the CCCX XC loop. Then at 11:00 a.m. Category 1 & 2 divisions will take to course. Cat. 2 riders will do 4 laps and the Cat. 1 riders will be racing 5 laps.
Please arrive early to check in and fill out your standard USA Cycling release form, and get your race number. Allow enough time to register and warm up so you are ready to hit the trails legs firing fast. The first race of the series is always a busy time at registration, so please arrive extra early for this race #1.
It will be crowded due to the awesome weather, so arrive early.
