2008 Rainbow Ridge Results

Race Results for last weekend's Jetway Chevrolet Rainbow Ridge Challenge in Fallon, NV have been posted over at USA Cycling. Rainbow Ridge is the first race in the Nevada Cup series (Northern Nevada State Championship Series).

Congrats to Men's Pro/Semi-Pro winner Kenny Burt.

NorCal MTB Racing this Weekend: May 3 - 4, 2008

It's a big weekend for NorCal racing:

• Saturday: CCCX DH near Monterey, CA. The fourth race of the series will also be a memorial fundraiser.
• Saturday/Sunday: Coolest 24 in Cool, CA. The big 24 race in the foothills, it will be live audio blogged by Karl over at Ride424.
• Sunday: Rainbow Ridge in Fallon, NV. The first race in the Nevada Cup.

2008 Rainbow Ridge and FT&B Dates

BicycleNevada has the dates for of this year's Nevada events:

• April 27, 2008: Rainbow Ridge Challenge
• June 7-8, 2008: Fears, Tears and Beers

Rainbow Ridge is usually the first race in the Nevada Cup XC series and FT&B is an Enduro. I don't see their sites updated with details yet, but I post something when I do. For last year's information on Nor Nevada races, check the archives.

RACE REPORT: 2007 Rainbow Ridge

Finally uncovered the results from the first leg of the Nevada Cup race Jetway Chevrolet Rainbow Ridge Challenge. Congrats to Kyle Dixon (Bicycle Warehouse) and Zephanie Blasi (Kenda/X-Fusion/Titus) for the wins in the Pro division.

Rainy Sunday

If you are getting up later this morning to go do the CHDH #1, Napa Valley Dirt Classic or the Jetway Rainbow Ridge Challenge, you'd better grab your rain gear, breakout the towels for the truck and dress warmly.
It's raining cats and dogs through the Bay Area and Tahoe's getting snow.

2007 Rainbow Challenge Scheduled

The 2007 edition of the The Jetway Chevrolet Rainbow Ridge Challenge has been set for April 22nd in Fallon, Nevada.

This is the first race in the Northern Nevada Cup Series. An XC course with 6.1 miles loop with Pro/Semi-pro & Expert riders 3 laps, Sport riders 2 laps, Beginners riders 1 lap, and Junior riders ½ lap. Course with some climbing over jeep trails and extreme drops over single track.

2007 Nevada Cup

I saw this in a Reno area website, but haven't been able to confirm it. Figured I would run it anyway. Here are this year's Nevada Cup locations and dates:

• April 22: Jetway Chevrolet Rainbow Ridge Challenge [XC] (Fallon, Nevada)
• May 6: Pine Nut Cracker [XC] (Gardnerville, Nevada)
• June 2-3: Peavine Challenge [XC, DH] (Reno, Nevada)
• Aug 18-19: Sky Tavern [XC, DH] (near Reno on Mount Snow)

From the article, "Organizers announced the 2007 Nevada Cup series, which will determined the northern Nevada state mountain bike champions. Brent Hart of Reno Wheelman spoke about the series, "These courses were specifically chosen to challenge the advanced riders and at the same time allow beginning riders to feel comfortable to compete."

Series standing will be based on the total accumulated points from the series. In the event of a tie, the racer's place in the Series final race (Sky Tavern) will determine the final standing. In addition, the top 15 riders in each category/(age) class in each race will qualify for the US National Championships in Mt Snow, VT July 17-22, 2007. The Sky Tavern Classic qualifies for the 2008 USA National Championships.

RACE REPORT: Rainbow Ridge Challenge

Hey, I never posted the 2006 Jetway Chevrolet Rainbow Ridge Challenge results (because I couldn't find them). However, the good people over at the Reno Wheelmen site pointed me in the right direction. Here they are. The 2006 Pine Nut Cracker results are also posted (although in PDF). So, sure it's in Windows Media Player format (if your on a mac you may have to save it to your hard drive before viewing), but how many MTB races have you actually seen with their own TV commercial ? That desert singletrack making me think about driving into Nevada this weekend.

2006 Jetway Chevrolet Rainbow Ridge Challenge

Okay, so I kinda missed the boat on this one, but I figure its better to post it late than never: The Jetway Chevrolet Rainbow Ridge Challenge will be held this weekend, April 23rd, 2006 in Fallon, Nevada (just east of Reno). A NORBA sanctioned event, this XC race is also the kickoff of the Northern Nevada MTB Cup series. The course is stated as "This event is Cross Country with 6.1 miles loop with Pro/Semi-pro riders 3 2 laps, Expert & Sport riders 2 laps, Beginners riders 1 lap, and Junior riders ½ lap. This is very technical course with some climbing over jeep trails and extreme drops over single track." Entry is $45 with NORBA license.
