Help Charity, Help Your Racing at Lake Sonoma Series

Sorry, this has been sitting in my INBOX for a few days now ... The March 21st Lake Sonoma Series is teaming with Bicycles for Humanity and will be giving away free entry to anyone who comes to race and brings a mountain bike with 26" wheels as their entry contribution -- and they even still get the burger and beer at the end!
Bicycles for Humanity will send its’ first shipment of bikes from Sonoma County to Namibia, Africa on March Saturday March 7th. USED MOUNTAIN BIKES ARE NEEDED! This grass-roots project will send 350 used mountain bikes to Gobabis, Namibia, Africa. In Gobabis, healthcare workers are currently unable treat all of their homecare patients because their only transportation is on foot. A bike changes that. Purchasing a new or used bike is out of reach for most Namibians, about 5 months wages. With your help, this community will be transformed and lives will change. The shipping container will be used as a bike workshop in this rural community which will provide a transportation infrastructure for healthcare workers and provide jobs for the local community. YOUR USED BIKE CAN CHANGE A LIFE! This is a unique opportunity to make a huge impact in the world. There are millions of unused bikes in the U.S. and many thousands here in Sonoma County. If you have a used mountain bike to donate, be sure to drop it off at one of the locations below or email santa_rosa@bicycles-for-humanity.org for more information. Give you OLD bike a NEW life!
Props to the BikeMonkey folks for this ...
